Burrocacao delle meraviglie/ Wonder Lip Balm: 100% Pure Organic Lysine + Herbs Healing Lip Balm

 Se, nel Paese delle Meraviglie, Alice avesse trovato per terra un burrocacao, si sarebbe trattato del burrocaco alla lisina ed erbe della fantastica marca statunitense 100% Pure (se non la conoscete, qui potete dare un'occhiata al sito europeo del brand, dal quale potete anche acquistare).

 Gli eventi che hanno portato alla dipendenza... 

Quando ho iniziato a saccheggiare (credetemi, non è un eufemismo) il sito di 100% Pure, circa un anno e mezzo fa, sono stata subito incuriosita da questo burrocacao. Nella descrizione (così come sull'etichetta del prodotto), infatti, è specificato che il burrocaco alla lisina (ma cos'è!? Ci arrivo fra un momento...) ed erbe è indicato nel trattamento dell'herpes labiale. In quel periodo, in concomitanza del ciclo, mi appariva un principio di herpes e in un paio di occasioni avevo scongiurato per un pelo che diventasse evidente, applicando i patches venduti in farmacia. Cercavo, però, una soluzione del tutto naturale. Così ho comprato questo burrocacao. 

Sinceramente, pensavo che sarebbe stato lenitivo e magari che avrebbe tolto un po' la sensazione di bruciore (visto che contiene, tra gli altri, l'olio essenziale di menta), ma non pensavo che potesse davvero fermare sul nascere o far passare l'herpes. Mi sbagliavo: fa tutto questo e molto altro!

  The events leading up to the addiction... 

As I began to loot (believe me, it's not an understatement) 100% Pure's website, more or less a year and a half ago, this lip balm immediately aroused my curiosity. In the description (and on the label of the product as well), in fact, it is stated that it can help treat cold sore. At that time, each time during my period, I used to experience that itching, which usually precedes the onset of herpes labialis a.k.a. cold sore. A couple of times the patches sold in pharmacies had prevented the cold sore to appear but I was looking for a totally natural solution. So I bought this lip balm. 

Honestly, I thought it would be soothing and maybe that it would avoid that burning sensation (since it contains, among others, peppermint essential oil), but I did not think it could  really stop the onset of a cold sore or even heal it. I was wrong: it does all this and much more! 

  Primo contatto 

Quando mi è arrivato il primo burrocacao (ad oggi, ne ho comprati e finiti 4 e ne sto usando un 5°), l'ho subito applicato perché l'herpes era praticamente apparso (non era ancora grave, però era già visibile e fastidioso). Nel giro di 24 ore, l'herpes è regredito: il rossore si è attenuato e il bruciore è scomparso. Due giorni dopo non c'erano più tracce dell'herpes. Sulle mie labbra rimaneva solo il sorriso soddisfatto! 

  First contact 

When I bought the first stick of this lip balm (up to now, I bought and finished 4 and I am using the 5th), I immediately applied it to my lips because the cold sore had already appeared (it had not become severe yet, but it was visible and bothersome). In 24 hours, my cold sore had regressed: redness had lessened and the burning sensation had disappaered. After two days there were no traces left. On my lips there was only a satisfied smile! 

 Ma come mai è così efficace? 

 la lisina, in primo luogo, un aminoacido (che si trova nel latte, nel pollame, nelle uova e nelle patate), come dimostrano molti studi, impedisce al virus dell'herpes di crescere, diminuisce la durata e la gravità dello sfogo;

 la propoli (nel burrocacao troverete dei minuscoli pezzettini solidi, si tratta proprio della propoli), un tipo di resina che le api raccolgono dalla corteccia degli alberi, ha proprietà antibiotiche ed antifungine ed è utile per curare molti disturbi, tra cui l'herpes;

 gli oli essenziali di melissa, tea tree, chaparral*, menta piperita ed eucalipto insieme agli estratti di pompelmo, sambuco, echinacea, radice di liquirizia e idraste coadiuvano l'effetto della lisina e della propoli e/o leniscono il bruciore (il burrocacao ha un odore dolce e fresco, come la menta, ma io percepisco anche la traccia dell'eucalipto);

 l'olio vegetale di cocco e la cera d'api idratano, evitando così che la pelle, già resa delicata dall'herpes, si spacchi.

* quando ho letto il nome di questo ingrediente brancolavo nel buio: mai sentito prima! Il che è strano perché gli oli comunemente usati mi suonano - di solito - almeno familiari.  In italiano si chiama "creosoto". Ho fatto alcune ricerche e in un primo momento mi sono un po' spaventata, dal momento che i risultati lo correlavano al carbone, il catrame e il combustibile. Dunque, ho cercato maggiori informazioni e ho scoperto che l'olio di creosoto può essere ricavato in tre modi:

- dal catrame di carbone o di legna (potenzialmente tossico e infatti vietato dall'UE);
- dalla distillazione a vapore delle foglie di una pianta chiamata larrea tridentata (endemica in America del Nord e in Messico) - in pratica si ottiene l'olio essenziale;
- mettendo in infusione in un olio vettore (vegetale) le foglie di questa pianta - si ottiene un oleolito. 

L'olio ottenuto dalla pianta ha proprietà antisettiche, è cicatrizzante e aiuta nella guarigione di acne e ferite, è utile contro le emorroidi e molto altro.

Ovviamente, l'ingrediente contenuto in questo burrocacao deve essere ottenuto nel secondo o terzo modo, non ho dubbi , perché 100% Pure è una azienda estremamente affidabile e che ha a cuore la salute dei suoi clienti. 

  But why is it so effective?

 lysine is an amino acid (naturally found in milk, poultry, eggs, and potatoes), as it has been shown in studies, it prevents the virus from multiplying, greatly reduces the length and severity of an outbreak;

 propolis (you will find some very little solid specks in this lip balm, that is propolis), a kind of resin, collected by bees from the bark of trees, which is a natural antibiotic and antifungal substance and brings relief to various ailments including cold sores;

 lemon balm, peppermint, tea tree, chaparral* and eucalyptus oils, together with grapefruit, echinacea, goldenseal, elder flower, licorice root extracts boost lysine's and propolis' effect and/or soothe the burning sensation (the lip balm has a fresh and sweet smell, just like mint, butI also perceive a hint of eucalyptus);

 coconut oil and beeswax hydrate, thus preventing skin, already made more sensitive by the cold sore, from becoming chapped. 

*When I read the name of this ingredient, I was groping in the dark: never heard of it before! This is weird, since the oils commonly used - usually - sound at least familiar to me. It is also called "creosote". I made some researches then and at first I was a bit scared because the results were related to coal, tar and fuel. So I looked for further information and I discovered that this oil can be obtained in different ways:

- from coal or wood tar (potentially toxic and in fact prohibited by the EU);
- from the steam distillation of the leaves of a plant called larrea tridentata (which is endemic in Northern America and Mexico) - basically an essential oil is obtained;
- from an infusion of the leaves of this plant in a vegetal carrier oil .

The oil obtained from the plant has antiseptic properties, it is cicatrizant and helps therefore healing acne and wounds, it also helps treating hemorrhoids and much more.

Of course the ingredient contained in this lip balm must have been obtained through the second or third process, I have no doubts, since 100% Pure is a very trustworthy company, which really cares about its customers' health.
