A volte tratto male la mia pelle. Dopotutto, è assolutamente vero che lavare, scrubbare o usare troppo o per troppo tempo un determinato prodotto può far pagare un prezzo alla nostra pelle.

Il mio contorno occhi era un po' stressato all'inizio di quest'anno. Applicavo abitualmente prodotti anidri (un balsamo o un olio vegetale) su pelle umida, sia la mattina che la sera, quando, improvvisamente, la zona delicata del contorno occhi ha iniziato a screpolarsi, ad arrossarsi e a prudere. Certamente non era bello da vedere, ma soprattutto non era una condizione che potevo ignorare. Inizialmente ho interrotto l'uso di qualsiasi prodotto utilizzato fino a quel momento. Ho anche evitato di applicare qualsiasi tipo di prodotto per una settimana (sciacquavo la zona solo con acqua fresca). Ho provato tutto ciò che prima aveva funzionato con problemi simili (su altre zone del viso), ma a dir il vero la maggior parte dei prodotti che ho sempre trovato efficaci in questo senso sono anidri e la mia ipotesi è che la pelle del mio contorno occhi non riusciva (e probabilmente non riesce ancora) a sopportare prodotti che non contengono acqua. Mi sono resa conto, insomma, che la mia pelle con ogni probabilità era disidratata e aveva, dunque, bisogno di acqua, piuttosto che di burri o oli.

Avevo notato che in un negozio di prodotti per l'igiene della casa e della persona vicino casa mia avevano iniziato ad apparire le nuove linee ecobio di Naturaverde, una marca italiana che produce cosmetici (nella maggior parte dei casi con ingredienti naturali) già da tempo e che di recente ha lanciato sul mercato delle linee certificate ICEA di prodotti per il corpo e il viso e di makeup. Continuavo ad aggirarmi per gli scaffali – come un fantasma in cerca di giustizia e pace – finché un giorno ho trovato ciò che aspettavo, avendola vista su Instagram: la loro linea a base di bava di lumaca! Si tratta di una linea ricca di prodotti sia per il viso – salviette umidificate, detergente, latte detergente, due tipologie di crema, siero, crema contorno occhi – che per il corpo – due tipologie di crema, crema mani. Afferrai dallo scaffale due tubetti di crema contorno occhi rigenerante intensiva (una per me e una per un'amica) e me ne andai a casa speranzosa (ovviamente ho pagato prima)!

Ho iniziato ad usarla un mercoledì, se non erro, e prima del fine settimana il rossore era sparito, la pelle era molto più idratata (aveva smesso di screpolarsi) e prudeva anche molto meno. Il primo grande risultato dopo tanti fallimenti e un velo di disperazione! Ho continuato poi ad utilizzare la crema e il fastidioso problema che mi perseguitava non si è più ripresentato (sono comparse nuovamente, però, delle macchioline rosse e secche il giorno dopo che ho ritentato l'utilizzo di un balsamo sulla zona).

Ma perché questa crema ha funzionato così bene e ha guarito il mio contorno occhi?

La bava di lumaca senz'altro gioca un ruolo importante, ma credo che una menzione speciale vada anche all'intera formula della crema.

Vediamo nel dettaglio cosa c'è nella crema, così potete valutare se è una buona scelta anche per voi!

La superstar tra gli ingredienti, dal momento che nella crema ne è presente un buon 10 %, è sicuramente la bava di lumaca, appunto. Nell'inci la trovate con il nome di snail secretion filtrate: si tratta della bava prodotta naturalmente dalle lumache della specie Helix Aspersa quando camminano (la producono per strisciare con più facilità). È un ingrediente potente perché ricco di componenti che gli conferiscono diverse proprietà:

Elastina, collagene e peptidi – aiutano a rendere la pelle più elastica;

Acido ialuronico (il suo sale, sodium hyaluronate, è comunque contenuto come ingrediente in questa crema) – un glicosaminoglicano che si trova anche nel tessuto connettivo umano, idrata, protegge e rende la pelle liscia;

Allantoina – una sostanza naturale ottenuta dall'acido urico, è cicatrizzante e antiossidante, aiuta quindi a combattere le macchie scure, le cicatrici e ad arginare l'invecchiamento cutaneo;

Acido glicolico – un alfa-idrossiacido, provoca un'esfoliazione naturale e aiuta, dunque, a liberarsi delle cellule morte della pelle. Questo peeling naturale fa sì che i fibroblasti (un tipo di cellula) producano più collagene, rigenerando così la pelle, rendendola più luminosa e anche eventualmente riducendo le macchie scure;

Vitamine C ed E – alleviano le infiammazioni e combattono contro i radicali liberi (responsabili dell'invecchiamento cutaneo).

Potreste pensare che non ci sia altro e, invece, non è tutto qui: questa crema funziona senz'altro anche grazie ad altri ingredienti che agiscono in sinergia con la bava di lumaca e che probabilmente hanno contribuito a guarire il mio contorno occhi!

Estratto di corteccia di cannella – stimola la produzione di collagene, coadiuvando così l'azione della bava di lumaca;

Sodium hyaluronate – come ho scritto, si tratta del sale dell'acido ialuronico, ampiamente usato in cosmesi, ha le stesse funzioni dell'acido ialuronico;

Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 – un peptide (essenzialmente i peptidi sono delle catene di amminoacidi e dei “messaggeri” che dicono alla nostra pelle “produci più collagene!”) che favorisce la produzione di collagene (in passato ho utilizzato con soddisfazione dei prodotti contenenti peptidi, notando dei risultati sulla pelle).

La crema è anche arricchita da diversi oli vegetali –

Olio di crusca di riso → ricco di acido ferulico, vitamina E e carotenidi, si tratta di un olio secco che penetra facilmente nella pelle, è particolarmente indicato per il contorno occhi, stimola la microcircolazione e aiuta a combattere le occhiaie;

Olio di jojoba → un olio leggero, secco, anch'esso in grado di penetrare facilmente nella pelle senza lasciare un film grasso, è perfetto per le pelli secche, ma anche per quelle miste e quelle sensibili;

Olio di semi di girasole → ricco di vitamina E e squalene, con una parte insaponificabile consistente e ricco quindi di fitosteroli che aiutano a proteggere la pelle;

Olio di germe di grano → estremamente ricco di vitamina E e, dunque, altamente antiossidante, si tratta di un olio piuttosto grasso, adatto a pelli secche, molto secche e screpolate. 

C'è un ultimo ingrediente (che non è un attivo, come gli altri che ho appena descritto) che merita un approfondimento dettagliato: l'isopropyl myristate

- un olio sintetico, ma non nocivo (bisogna ricordarsi che non tutti gli ingredienti sintetici sono per forza cattivi!) e infatti ammesso dallo standard ICEA;

- è usato nelle creme come fattore di consistenza;

- ha proprietà emollienti;

- fa sì che il prodotto scivoli meglio sulla pelle, lo rende più trasparente;

- vi ricordate che in formula c'è anche l'olio di germe di grano che è un olio piuttosto grasso? L'isopropyl myristate ha l'abilità di ridurre quell'effetto oleoso lasciato dall'olio di germe di grano e da altri ingredienti simili;

- fa sì che gli altri ingredienti penetrino meglio nella pelle (in questo caso è un bene perché in formula ci sono ingredienti sicuri e sani).

Conclusioni e info chiave su questo prodotto

Ho 31 anni, non ho ancora rughe, solo dei leggeri segni, un contorno occhi tendenzialmente secco, e trovo questa crema sufficiente per la routine serale – l'ho provata quando le temperature erano ancora miti e poi con il gran caldo, e vi saprò dire di più questo autunno/inverno.

- è una crema bianca, leggera, simile ad un gel per consistenza, si spalma e si assorbe con facilità, non è assolutamente grassa ma lascia la pelle perfettamente idratata e anche a lungo;

- può essere applicata tranquillamente anche sulle palpebre;

- dà una grossa mano anche con le occhiaie;

- ho notato, in generale, un miglioramento nell'aspetto della mia pelle intorno agli occhi;

- i problemi che avevo all'inizio di quest'anno non si sono mai più ripresentati;

- il profumo è delicato, non persistente, difficile da descrivere perché non è né dolce, né floreale, qualcosa nel mezzo, direi.

Nel frattempo ho già comprato il secondo tubetto e anche il siero viso!Ho trovato quasi tutti i prodotti della linea in un negozio di prodotti per l'igiene della casa e della persona, ma li ho visti anche presso due Ipercoop. Sometimes I treat my skin badly. It's definitely true that if you wash and scrub too much or use a certain type of product for too long, your skin may pay the consequences.

My eye contour was a bit stressed, to say the least, early this year. I had been applying some anhydrous products (a balm or a vegetable oil) on moist skin, both in the morning and in the evening, when all of a sudden, the delicate skin in that area began to flake, it was red and itchy most of the times. It was not nice to look at but above all it was not a normal condition that I could ignore. At first I thought I should just discontinue anything I had been using and so I did. I even avoided to apply anything at all for a week (I just washed the area with fresh water). I tried everything that had worked before with similar skin conditions (on other areas of my face) but actually most of the products I have always found to be a good remedy in case of similar skin conditions are anhydrous and my guess is that my eye contour cound not (and probably still can't) bear products that does not contain water. I realized that my skin was probably dehydrated and needed water, rather than oil or butter.

I happened to notice that a small shop dealing in household cleaning and personal hygiene products had begun to sell Naturaverde's new ICEA certified cosmetic ranges. Naturaverde is an Italian brand that has always produced cosmetic products (mostly with good natural ingredients) and that has recently produced a makeup and a skincare/body care range (both ICEA certified). I kept haunting the shleves of the shop like a ghost in quest for justice and peace until one day I found what I had been waiting for: their snail serum skincare range! This range features different products: facial wet wipes, a cleanser, a cleansing milk, two different body creams, two different facial moisturizers, a serum, a hand cream and an eye contour cream. I grabbed two tubes of the Intensive Regenerating Eye Contour Cream (one for me and one for a friend of mine) and I went home full of hope (oh I paid before going out)!

I began using it like on a Wednesday and before the weekend the redness had gone, my skin felt much more hydrated (it stopped flaking) and it was much less itchy than before. The first great results after several failures! I kept using it and the unpleasant skin condition that had been pestering me never came back (a few red spots and flakiness showed up again one day after I had used a balm again – I was curious to see if I was “healed”).

But why did this cream work so well and healed my eye contour?

Snail serum plays an important role but I guess that a special mention goes to the whole formula. Let's see this in detail so that you know if it's also a good choice for you!

The superstar among the ingredients, since the cream contains 10% of it, is definitely snail secretion filtrate. This is the name used in the ingredient list to describe snail serum, that is snail slime left by Helix Aspersa – a breed of snails – when they walk (it apparently helps them crawl). It is a powerful ingredient because it has many properties, due to the its different components:

Elastin, collagene and peptides – they help make skin more elastic, supple;

Hyaluronic acid (whose salt, sodium hyaluronate, is contained anyway as a separate ingredient in this cream) – a glycosaminoglycan found in human connective tissue too, hydrates, protects and smooths skin;

Allantoin – a natural substance obtained from uric acid, is healing and antioxidant and helps therefore reduce dark spots, scars and burns and reduce skin aging;

Glycolic acid – an alpha hydroxy acid, triggers a peeling and helps therefore get rid of dead skin cells. This peeling causes fibroblasts (a type of cell) to produce more collagen and regenerate skin, making it more radiant, and possibly reducing dark spots;

Vitamin C and E – they reduce inflammation and fight against free radicals (responsible for our skin aging).

You may think that this is all, but no, there is much more in this cream that works in synergy with snail serum and that probably helped it heal my eye contour!

Cinnamon bark extract – it also stimulates collagen production, thus boosting one of the function of snail serum;

Sodium hyaluronate – as I wrote, the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, widely used in cosmetics, has the same functions of hyaluronic acid described above;

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 – a peptide (they are basically amino acid chains and “messengers” that tell our skin “produce more collagen!”) that favors collagen production (in the past I've really liked products containing peptides because I saw some real improvements);

The cream is also enriched by various vegetable oils –

Rice bran oil → rich in ferulic acid, vitamin E and carotenoids, a dry oil that penetrates the skin easily, particularly suitable for the eye contour, it stimulates microcirculation and helps fight dark circles;

Jojoba oil → a lightweight, dry, oil, also penetrates the skin easily without leaving a greasy film, it's perfect for dry skin but also for combination and sensitive skin;

Sunflower seed oil → rich in vitamin E and squalene, with a high unsaponifiable fraction and therefore rich in phytosterols that help protect the skin;

Wheat germ oil → extremely rich in vitamin E and therefore highly antioxidant, this is a quite greasy oil, particularly suitable for dry, very dry and chapped skin.

There's another ingredient (which is not an active one, like those I described above) that also deserves a more or less close-up insight: isopropyl myristate

- a synthetic oil, but not harmful (remember that not every synthetic ingredient is necessarily bad!), and in fact admitted by the ICEA certification (to know more click here);

- it serves as thickening agent;

- it has emollient properties;

- it gives the product a slicker, sheer feel;

- remember the wheat germ oil in this cream, which is rather greasy? Isopropyl myristate has the ability to reduce the greasy feel of wheat germ oil and other similar ingredients;

- it has the ability to make other ingredients penetrate the skin better (in this case it is good because in this cream we have natural and safe ingredients).

Key information about this product

I'm 31 and I don't have wrinkles yet, just fine lines, an eye contour that tends to be quite dry, and this cream is enough for a bedtime routine – I also tried it when temperatures were still mild and I will be able to tell you more this fall/winter.

- it is a lightweight, white, gel-like cream, it gets easily absorbed, it does not feel greasy at all but it does hydrate and for a long time too; 

- it can be applied to eyelids as well;

- it helps a lot with dark circles

- I saw an overall improvement of the skin around my eyes and the problems I had at the beginning of the year never showed up again;

- the skin condition I had experienced early this year has never showed up again;

- it has a delicate, not persisting smell, difficult to describe because it's not either sweet or flowery, something in between, I'd say.

Where to find it and price

I found it in a shop that sells cosmetic products and detergents, but I also saw the range in two Ipercoop supermarkets (you can find one of these big supermarkets in almost every Italian city, so if you happen to be here and you can take a look around, you will probably find this range). The 15 ml tube costs more or less 4,90 € (yes, you are not dreaming, a great price!).
